Jordan Ayew makes Ghana history with third FIFA World Cup appearance
Jordan Ayew has reached another significant milestone in his international career after becoming just the fourth Ghanaian player to feature at three FIFA World Cup tournaments.
The experienced forward achieved the feat during Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Panama in their opening Group L match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Toronto.

The appearance saw the 34-year-old add another chapter to an international career that has spanned more than a decade. Having previously represented Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the 2022 tournament in Qatar, Ayew has now joined a select group of Black Stars legends with three World Cup appearances.
His latest outing places him alongside Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari and his elder brother Andre Ayew as the only Ghanaian players to have featured in three editions of football’s biggest competition.
A Journey Across Three World Cups
Jordan’s World Cup story began in Brazil in 2014, where he was part of the Ghana squad as one of the country’s emerging talents. He returned to the tournament eight years later in Qatar and played an important role in the Black Stars’ campaign.
His appearance in Canada in 2026 now completes a remarkable trilogy of World Cup participations, underlining both his longevity and his continued importance to the national team setup.
Over the years, Ayew has remained a consistent presence for Ghana, representing the country at major international tournaments and maintaining his place within the Black Stars squad across different generations of players.
Continuing the Ayew Family Legacy
The achievement also adds to the rich football heritage of the Ayew family. As the son of Abedi Pele and younger brother of Andre Ayew, Jordan has spent much of his career carrying one of the most recognised names in Ghanaian football.
By joining Andre in the exclusive three-World Cup club, he has further strengthened the family’s lasting contribution to the national team and added another memorable accomplishment to an already distinguished career.
Milestone Reflects Longevity and Dedication
As Ghana continues its campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Jordan Ayew’s latest achievement serves as a reflection of his dedication, resilience and consistency at the highest level of international football.
With three World Cup appearances now to his name, the veteran forward has secured his place among an exclusive group of Ghanaian footballers whose impact on the national team has endured across multiple generations.
