Bruno Langa draws QPR interest after Portugal revival
Queens Park Rangers are weighing up a move for Mozambique international Bruno Langa as the Championship side continue their search for defensive reinforcements ahead of the summer window, with the Almeria left-back now firmly on their radar after a productive loan spell in Portugal.
The R’s have been monitoring options at left-back for several months, and Langa has emerged as a realistic target following his return to Spain.
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, QPR “are interested in signing” the defender, with a summer switch “remains a possible scenario” for the Almeria man.
The English club are not alone in the pursuit. Spanish second-division side Eibar are also understood to be tracking the 26-year-old, setting up a potential cross-border battle for his signature.
For QPR, the urgency is clear. Rhys Norrington-Davies occupied the position during the most recent campaign, but his loan spell is set to expire this month, leaving uncertainty over whether a permanent deal will be pursued. With Julien Stéphan expected to reshape the squad after a mixed Championship finish, defensive stability has become a priority.
Revival in Portugal restores confidence
Langa’s career trajectory has taken several turns in a short space of time. After struggling for game time at Cypriot club Pafos earlier in the season, he was loaned to Portuguese side Estrela Amadora for the second half of the campaign by Almeria.
That move proved decisive. The Mozambique international quickly established himself as the first-choice left-back, making eleven appearances and playing a key role in helping Estrela Amadora retain their top-flight status.
His performances in Portugal marked a return to form and consistency, restoring his reputation after a difficult opening half of the season. Coaches in Portugal were reportedly impressed by his defensive discipline and ability to contribute in transition, qualities that have now reignited interest across Europe.
Contract situation opens door for summer move
Langa has now returned to Almeria, where he remains under contract for the next two years. However, with the Spanish club still operating in the second tier, there is growing belief that a departure could suit all parties this summer.
Almeria may be open to negotiations as they continue to reshape their squad, while the player himself could be tempted by a fresh challenge after a turbulent season involving multiple leagues and loan moves.
His experience also strengthens his appeal. Langa has made seven UEFA Champions League appearances during his career, bringing valuable continental pedigree that is rare for a player in his position at Championship level.
International experience adds appeal
Beyond club football, Langa is an established international for Mozambique, earning 37 caps since his debut in 2021. His consistency on the international stage has added to his profile, particularly among clubs seeking a reliable, experienced full-back with exposure to different tactical systems.
That background could prove decisive if QPR decide to formalise their interest. With Championship squads increasingly built around athletic, adaptable defenders, Langa’s versatility and experience in multiple leagues offer a compelling package.
Decision time looms for QPR and Langa
Whether QPR push forward with a formal approach or shift attention elsewhere may depend on how quickly they move in the market. Competition from Spain, combined with Almeria’s valuation, could complicate negotiations.
For now, Langa’s future remains open. A return to the Iberian Peninsula, a move to England, or even a stay to fight for his place at Almeria are all possibilities as the summer window approaches.
What is clear is that the Mozambique defender has rebuilt momentum at the right time, and his next step could define the next stage of a career that is once again attracting serious attention across Europe.
