World Cup 2026: Morocco put four key players on individual training plans ahead of opening match
Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi has introduced special individual training programs for four key players as the Atlas Lions intensify preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.
Targeted Fitness Plan for Key Players
According to reports from Almountakhab, captain Achraf Hakimi, defender Nayef Aguerd, midfielder Neil El Aynaoui and winger Chemsdine Talbi are all currently training separately from the main squad.
The decision is part of a carefully designed strategy aimed at ensuring the players reach peak physical condition ahead of Morocco’s opening World Cup fixture.
Hakimi Managed After Heavy Club Season
Hakimi’s tailored program comes after a demanding club campaign with Paris Saint-Germain, including his involvement in the UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal.
The right back joined the national team camp later than his teammates, prompting the technical staff to manage his workload carefully as he integrates into full team preparations.
His situation is also being monitored following a previous injury sustained against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League semi final, making his gradual return to full intensity a priority for the coaching staff.
Injury Recovery and Monitoring for Talbi
Winger Chemsdine Talbi is continuing his recovery after an injury ruled him out of Morocco’s recent friendly against Madagascar.
Medical staff are closely monitoring his progress, with optimism that he could return to full fitness in time for the tournament.
Customized Programs for Aguerd and El Aynaoui
Defender Nayef Aguerd and midfielder Neil El Aynaoui are also following individualized training routines based on their current physical condition.
The coaching team’s goal is to ensure both players are fully prepared for Morocco’s opening Group C clash against Brazil on June 13.
Morocco Fine Tunes Preparations in United States
The Atlas Lions have already arrived in the United States and begun training sessions at their base in New Jersey as final preparations continue.
Before facing Brazil, Morocco will play a friendly against Norway on June 7, followed by group stage matches against Scotland on June 19 and Haiti on June 24.
Having reached the semi finals at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Morocco will be hoping to build on that historic achievement with another strong run in the 2026 tournament.
