Former Ghana head coach Otto Addo has been appointed to FIFA’s Technical Study Group (TSG) for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Technical Study Group will be tasked with analysing tactical developments, match statistics, set-piece trends and overall team performances throughout the tournament.
The panel also plays a key role in selecting individual award winners, including the Golden Ball and Golden Boot.
Addo joins a distinguished lineup of former players and coaches on the panel, including Pascal Zuberbühler, Tobin Heath, Jürgen Klinsmann, Jayne Ludlow, Michael O’Neill, Gilberto Silva, Jon Dahl Tomasson, Paulo Wanchope, Aron Winter and Pablo Zabaleta.
The appointment marks a significant recognition for Addo, who was relieved of his duties as Black Stars coach earlier this year despite leading Ghana to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His dismissal followed a series of disappointing international friendly results, including a 5-1 defeat to Austria and a 2-1 loss to Germany.
Following his exit, the Ghana Football Association appointed Carlos Queiroz on a short-term contract to lead the Black Stars into the tournament.
Ghana, four-time African champions, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
The Black Stars will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 before taking on England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27 in what will be Ghana’s fifth appearance at the global tournament.
