Ghana’s Caleb Yirenkyi nominated for Danish Superliga Player of the Season
Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi has received a major career boost after earning a nomination for the 2025/26 Danish Superliga Player of the Season award following an outstanding campaign with FC Nordsjælland.
The highly-rated youngster was named among eight players shortlisted for the prestigious individual honour by the Danish top-flight league after impressing throughout the season with a series of commanding performances in midfield.
Yirenkyi has enjoyed a breakthrough year in Denmark, establishing himself as one of the most exciting young talents in the league since cementing his place in the Nordsjælland first team.
The former Right to Dream Academy product has drawn widespread praise for his composure, technical quality and maturity on the ball despite his young age.
The Ghanaian midfielder has featured in 28 matches this season, scoring two goals and providing eight assists as he continues to play a key role for the Danish side.
His impressive performances have helped Nordsjælland remain competitive in the Danish Superliga while also enhancing his growing reputation as one of Ghana’s brightest emerging stars in Europe.
Yirenkyi will battle for the award alongside fellow nominees Tobias Bech, Tonni Adamsen, Thomas Jørgensen, Franculino Djú, Gift Links, Patrick Pentz and Aral Şimşir.
The nomination marks another important milestone in Yirenkyi’s rapidly developing career and could strengthen his chances of breaking into Ghana’s senior national team setup in the near future.
With his stock continuing to rise in European football, many Ghanaian fans will be hopeful the talented midfielder can crown his remarkable season by winning one of the Danish league’s biggest individual awards.
Yirenkyi is also expected to be in contention for Ghana’s squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
