Botola Pro: AS FAR and Raja Casablanca handed stadium bans after crowd trouble
CAF Champions League finalists AS FAR Rabat have been sanctioned following their 2-1 victory over Raja Casablanca in the Moroccan Botola Pro on Thursday night.
The result, which saw AS FAR return to winning ways against Fadlu Davids’ side, was overshadowed by violent scenes involving supporters from both clubs inside the stadium.
In response, the Central Disciplinary Committee of the National Professional Football League imposed strict punishments on both sides.
AS FAR have been handed a five-match stadium ban affecting their supporters, while Raja Casablanca will play their next three home matches behind closed doors.
According to the disciplinary body, the sanctions were due to “the seriousness of the actions committed by the fans of the two teams, which included acts of vandalism, chaos and injuries among security personnel.”
Raja Casablanca have expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling, particularly as the punishment means their high-profile Casablanca derby against Wydad AC will now be played without fans.
