AC Milan renew Jean‑Philippe Mateta chase after January collapse
AC Milan are ready to go back in for Jean‑Philippe Mateta this summer after seeing a January move for the Crystal Palace striker fall through at the final hurdle.
According to Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri had agreed a fee of around 30 million euros with the Premier League club in the winter window before medical concerns over Mateta’s knee scuppered the transfer.
The story has now taken a fresh twist. Mateta’s agent, Paul Latouche, was spotted at San Siro during Milan’s goalless draw with Juventus, a sighting that has fuelled talk of renewed negotiations ahead of the next window. With Milan still in the market for a powerful centre‑forward, the Frenchman remains high on their list of options.
This time, the Italian side could also hold a stronger hand at the negotiating table. Mateta is about to enter the final year of his Palace contract, a situation that may force the London club to soften their stance on the fee if they decide to cash in. That contractual context could allow Milan to push for a lower price if they choose to revive the deal.
