AS FAR defeat Raja Casablanca in Rabat thriller to intensify Botola Pro title race
AS FAR claimed a crucial 2-1 Clásico victory over Raja Casablanca at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, boosting their position in the tightly contested Botola Pro Inwi title race.
After a closely fought first half, the breakthrough arrived early in the second period. Abdelfattah Hadraf opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, finishing off a well-worked move following a decisive assist from Amine Hrimat to ignite celebrations among the home crowd.
The hosts doubled their advantage in the 66th minute through Reda Slim, who calmly converted after being set up by Ayoub Hammoudan. The goal sparked wild celebrations both on the pitch and in the stands, with supporters creating a vibrant atmosphere.
However, the match was not without controversy, as tensions flared in the stands with clashes reported between rival supporter groups, prompting intervention from security personnel and briefly disrupting the spectacle.
Raja fought back late in the game, pulling one goal back in the 78th minute when Adam Ennafati converted from the penalty spot to set up a tense finale. Despite the pressure, AS FAR held firm in the closing stages to secure all three points.
The victory lifts AS FAR to second place with 35 points, just behind Maghreb Fez, who lead the standings with 37 points. Raja Casablanca drop to third with 33 points, leaving the title race wide open as the season heads toward its decisive phase.
