Franco-Togolese right defender Lorenz Assignon finds himself at the center of attention, courted by two prestigious European clubs—Galatasaray in Turkey and Feyenoord in the Netherlands. The seasoned defender, who has honed his skills at Stade Rennais, may be faced with a crucial decision that could see him make a move to either the Turkish or Dutch championships.

Assignon, a Togolese international, has emerged as a prime target for Galatasaray and Feyenoord during this winter transfer market.

Despite being under contract with Stade Rennais until June 2027, the 24-year-old right-back is contemplating a potential shift in the coming hours.

Galatasaray, in particular, has identified Assignon as a priority signing to fill the void left by Sacha Boey’s departure to Bayern Munich, according to official information from the Rennes club’s website.

Simultaneously, Feyenoord Rotterdam remains vigilant in their pursuit of the talented defender, unwilling to concede in their efforts to secure his services.

Transfermarkt suggests that there is a likelihood of more than 45% for Assignon to don the Galatasaray colors.

The Turkish club is reportedly preparing a lucrative offer of nearly €13,000,000 to finalize the deal. Assignon, who hails from Grasse, France, inked a contract extension on July 6, 2023, binding him to Stade Rennais until June 2027.

Despite facing stiff competition for his position at the French club, including the arrival of Ghanaian talent Alidu Seidu, Assignon has exhibited commendable performance statistics this season.

With 14 appearances out of 19 possible matches, the right-back has contributed one goal and two assists, showcasing his versatility and prowess on the field.

As the transfer window countdown continues, Lorenz Assignon stands at a crossroads, poised to make a pivotal decision that will shape the trajectory of his career and determine his next footballing destination.

The football community awaits the denouement of this transfer saga, as Assignon weighs the allure of Turkish and Dutch football to make a significant move before the transfer window draws to a close.
