Morocco will face Brazil at the World Cup

Moroccan football legend Mustapha Hadji has shared a bold assessment of his country’s chances at the upcoming World Cup, insisting that it is Brazil, not Morocco, who should be concerned about their group-stage meeting.

The Atlas Lions have been drawn in a competitive group alongside Brazil national football team, Scotland national football team, and Haiti national football team for next summer’s tournament.

Hadji, who starred for Morocco at the 1998 FIFA World Cup, believes the South American giants no longer carry the same aura that defined them in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Speaking on the “Remontada” programme on Medi1TV, the former African Footballer of the Year did not hold back in his assessment. “Brazil is the one that should be worried about Morocco being in its group,” he said.

The highly anticipated clash between Morocco, widely known as the Atlas Lions, and Brazil, often referred to as the Samba team, is scheduled for June 13 as part of the opening round of the group stage.

Hadji’s comments reflect growing confidence in Moroccan football, with the national team continuing to earn respect on the global stage and heading into the tournament believing they can challenge even the game’s traditional powerhouses.
