Fenerbahce plot blockbuster move for Egypt star Mohamed Salah
Turkish giants, Fenerbahçe S.K, have opened negotiations to sign Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah ahead of the summer transfer window.
The former Chelsea and Roma star is set to depart Liverpool at the end of the current campaign despite having a year left on his contract.
Fenerbahce are positioning themselves for one of the most ambitious transfers in their modern history, having already held at least two meetings with Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas over a potential summer acquisition.
According to reports, Ertan Torunoğulları, who is a board member of Fenerbahce is said to have led the talks on behalf of the club, who are reportedly eager to strengthen their squad after falling behind rivals in the title race.
The Turkish side are believed to be targeting high-profile signings to restore competitiveness and mount a serious challenge for domestic honours next season. Negotiations have reportedly advanced to financial discussions, with Salah’s camp outlining significant wage expectations.
It is claimed that the Egyptian forward is seeking a package worth up to €20 million per year, reflecting his status as one of the most marketable and accomplished forwards in world football.
Despite the high figure, Fenerbahce are said to be exploring ways to structure a competitive offer as they attempt to lure the player to Istanbul.
Sources close to the discussions indicate that Salah’s representatives have made it clear the player remains focused on continuing his career in Europe for the time being, ruling out a move to the Saudi Pro League at this stage.
The stance suggests that any potential transfer would need to align with both competitive ambitions and top-level European football, adding complexity to Fenerbahce’s pursuit.
A third round of talks had reportedly been scheduled following Galatasaray’s final league match, but discussions were paused due to internal developments surrounding the Turkish club’s election period.
The speculation comes shortly after Liverpool confirmed that Salah recently sustained a minor injury in a match against Crystal Palace. However, the club has stated that the forward is expected to return before the end of the season.
His future, however, remains a major talking point following earlier reports suggesting a possible departure from Anfield after the current campaign.
Salah has been a central figure at Liverpool for years, becoming one of the Premier League’s most influential attackers and a global football icon during his spell in England.
With Fenerbahce now entering the conversation and multiple clubs expected to monitor the situation, Salah’s future is shaping into one of the most closely watched transfer stories ahead of the summer window.
