Barcelona set to sell Ansu Fati despite Monaco revival

Barcelona have reportedly decided that Ansu Fati will leave the club this summer, even though the forward has rebuilt his form on loan at AS Monaco.

The 23-year-old has hit 10 goals in Ligue 1 and European competition, reminding many of the talent that once made him Lionel Messi’s heir at Camp Nou.

According to reports in Spain, there is now full consensus within Barça’s hierarchy that Fati will not be reintegrated into the squad once his loan ends. Both sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick are said to believe he no longer matches the physical and performance standards demanded in their long-term project.

Barcelona’s priority is a permanent sale, with Monaco holding an 11 million euro option to buy written into the loan agreement. Even if that clause is not triggered, the club intend to find another buyer while his market value, currently estimated at around 15 million euros, continues to recover.

With his contract running until 2028, Barça are keen to resolve his future quickly, bringing a definitive end to the once fairytale story of their former academy prodigy.
