Late drama as IR Tanger stun Olympique Safi with 2-1 win
IR Tanger put up a resilient performance on Wednesday, scoring two injury-time goals to secure a 2-1 victory over OC Safi in the Botola Pro League.
Olympique Club de Safi looked on course for victory after taking the lead late in the first half through striker Younes Najari in their Round 17 clash.
Just when the match appeared to be slipping away, Ittihad Tanger produced a dramatic turnaround. Fares “Al-Boughaz” emerged as the hero, scoring twice in stoppage time to snatch a remarkable 2–1 victory.
Safi’s Struggles Continue
The defeat extends a difficult run for Olympique Safi, who have struggled to find consistency in recent matches and once again let a lead slip at a crucial moment.
Standings Update
The win lifts Ittihad Tanger to 17 points, moving them into 10th place, while Olympique Safi remain on 12 points in 14th position, deepening their concerns as the season progresses.
Momentum Shift
For Ittihad Tanger, the comeback could prove to be a turning point, showcasing resilience and belief. For Safi, however, it raises further questions as their poor run of form continues to impact their position on the table.
