Michael Olise warns Bayern about PSG quality ahead of Champions League semi final

Claude Makelele has credited Vincent Kompany with playing a decisive role in the rapid development of Michael Olise at Bayern Munich, describing the coach’s influence as central to the player’s growing authority on the pitch.

Olise, who has quickly established himself as one of Bayern’s standout performers this season, has impressed with his creativity, composure and ability to dictate attacking phases in a demanding environment.

His adaptation to German football has drawn attention, particularly given the expectations that follow a move to a club of Bayern’s stature.

Makelele, speaking to Sky Italia, suggested that Kompany’s tactical guidance has been instrumental in helping the former Crystal Palace midfielder reach a higher level of consistency.

He pointed to the manager’s ability to refine Olise’s understanding of his own strengths and apply them more effectively within Bayern’s structure.

“Olise, the best young Frenchman? We have a lot of quality young players. When I worked at Chelsea, he played at Crystal Palace.

“Premier League football is very tough, while German football gives him more time in one-on-one situations, and now he can focus better on his performances.

“Kompany helped him understand how good he is. I’m rooting for him; he’s an incredible player, reminiscent of the young players at Barcelona: you might not see him for ten minutes, but then he hits you in transition.”

The comments underline a broader narrative around Olise’s evolution, particularly the contrast between his development in England and his current role in Germany.

At Crystal Palace, he was often required to adapt to a physically intense and fast-paced Premier League environment, whereas his current system at Bayern appears to grant him greater tactical freedom in attacking duels.

Under Kompany, Bayern have leaned on structured attacking patterns that allow technical players like Olise to exploit space and time more efficiently. That balance between discipline and creative licence has coincided with a noticeable rise in his influence in decisive moments.
