Jean-Luc Dompe boosts HSV with full training return
Hamburger SV have been handed a timely boost as Jean-Luc Dompe has taken a major step towards his comeback.
The winger completed a full team training session on Tuesday as HSV began preparations for their away match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Until recently, the 30-year-old had only been able to take part in parts of training, having been slowed down by a foot problem. Now, however, Dompe appears to have put those issues behind him, raising hopes that he can rejoin the squad at a crucial stage of the season.
His chances of making the matchday squad have increased significantly after missing the last four league games. The situation is further underlined by the absence of positional rival Philip Otele, who remains suspended following a red card.
For HSV, having Dompe’s dribbling, creativity and pace back on the flank could be a key factor in the run-in. Ahead of a potentially decisive trip to Frankfurt, coach Merlin Polzin may once again be able to call on the Frenchman’s quality on the offensive wing.
