Antonio Rudiger weighs future as Real Madrid plan defensive shake up
Real Madrid face an increasingly delicate situation at the back after Eder Militao suffered a hamstring injury that will keep him out for around five months, ruling him out of this summer’s World Cup.
The Brazilian’s absence is already a major blow, but the club may have another headache to deal with in central defence.
According to journalist Javier Herraez, veteran defender Antonio Rudiger has received a lucrative offer from another club and is currently “deep in thought” about his next step. While no destination has been named, the proposal is serious enough to leave his long-term future at the Bernabeu uncertain at a tricky moment for Madrid.
Herraez also reports that Raul Asencio could leave the club in the summer, further thinning Alvaro Arbeloa’s options at centre-back. In this context, Madrid are expected to be active in the market when the transfer window opens, with defensive reinforcements now seen as a priority.
The combination of Militao’s injury, potential exits and a demanding season ahead makes a back-line rebuild increasingly likely at the European champions.
