Fikayo Tomori explains AC Milan's safety-first approach in Turin

Fikayo Tomori believes Milan’s goalless draw away to Juventus was an important step, even if it was not the most thrilling performance.

Reflecting on the match, the defender stressed how much value the team placed on coming away from Turin with something.

“A difficult match – we knew that before it started. We can be happy with the point. We wanted to win, however, from the perspective of our journey, it is an important point,” Tomori stated, acknowledging Juventus’ quality and the weight of the result. He then underlined a principle often repeated by the coach: “When you can’t win, you must not lose.”

Tomori felt Milan applied that mindset well against a Juventus side full of dangerous players. “It was a balanced game; they have strong players. We had to be careful regarding their threats, but we played a great game.”

He also pointed to a recent shift in mentality after setbacks against Napoli and Udinese. “After Naples and Udinese, we had to ‘flip a switch’ and get back to the basics. In the last two games, we have defended well, as a team.” The point keeps Milan six points clear of fifth place with four games left, edging them closer to Champions League qualification.
