Burkina Faso’s Hillel Konaté celebrates Troyes promotion to Ligue 1
Hillel Konaté has described Troyes’ promotion to Ligue 1 as the culmination of years of effort, following a demanding campaign that ended with the club’s return to the top flight of French football.
The Burkinabe goalkeeper played a key role in ESTAC Troyes’ successful Ligue 2 season, making 26 appearances and establishing himself as a consistent presence between the posts.
His performances contributed significantly to the team’s push for promotion, underlining his importance within the squad.
After securing their place in Ligue 1, Konaté spoke about the achievement and the personal journey behind it. “It’s an incredible feeling.
It’s the reward for all my hard work since the beginning of my career. I’ve always believed in my talent, and when you add hard work and humility, you’re always rewarded… and that’s the case for me today, thank God.”
The 31-year-old’s comments reflect a career built on persistence, with his steady progress culminating in this milestone.
Over the course of the season, he has demonstrated reliability and composure, qualities that proved crucial in a competitive Ligue 2 campaign.
Despite the success, Konaté acknowledged the physical and mental demands of the season and outlined his immediate plans following promotion. “First, I’m going to enjoy the holidays and rest, because I need it after this difficult season.”
Looking ahead, his future remains tied to the club, although decisions regarding his role will depend on the direction set by the ownership group.
“For the future, I am still under contract with Troyes, so we will see what the City Group will decide for my future at the club, and I hope to get my chance in Ligue 1.”
As Troyes prepare for life in the top division, Konaté’s ambition is clear. Having played a decisive role in their promotion, he now aims to establish himself at the highest level of French football, continuing the progression that has defined his career so far.
