Lamine Yamal out for several weeks with injury

FC Barcelona have confirmed the extent of the injury suffered by Lamine Yamal, with his availability for the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to depend on his recovery after the club season.

In an official statement released on Thursday, the Catalan club revealed that the young forward sustained a hamstring injury during their La Liga clash with Celta Vigo.

Barca said in its statement, “Tests carried out on Thursday confirmed that first-team player Lamine Yamal has suffered a hamstring injury in his left leg.”

Blaugrana added, “The player will undergo a conservative treatment plan. He will miss the rest of the league matches, but he is expected to be ready to participate in the World Cup.”

The injury occurred during a decisive moment in the match, as Yamal converted a penalty that proved to be the only goal in Barcelona’s 1-0 victory.

Shortly after scoring, the winger was forced off before the end of the first half, unable to continue as discomfort set in.

While Barcelona have ruled him out for the remainder of their domestic fixtures, optimism remains that the highly rated teenager will recover in time for the World Cup, with his final participation likely to be determined once his rehabilitation process is complete.
