East Africa unites for memorable AFCON 2027

CAF and government representatives from Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda have officially kicked off preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON 2027, meeting in Kampala to reinforce their joint commitment to hosting a successful tournament under the PAMOJA banner.

During the high-level session, CAF’s Acting General Secretary praised the three host nations for the progress made so far and stressed the need for strong coordination, disciplined delivery, and a unified regional approach in the lead-up to 2027.

The hosts, in turn, thanked CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe and his team for their guidance, technical backing, and confidence in the PAMOJA project, reiterating their determination to stage a memorable Africa Cup of Nations in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Officials reviewed key pillars such as infrastructure, hospitality, safety and security, media and broadcast readiness, fan movement, governance, and finance, with August 2026 set as a major milestone to assess overall readiness.

They highlighted ongoing work on stadiums, training facilities, transport networks, airports, and accommodation, while also advancing plans for a PAMOJA Visa Framework to ease travel for fans, teams, media, and partners across the three countries.

Regular high-level and technical meetings will track progress to ensure East Africa delivers a unifying and transformative AFCON in 2027.
