Senegalese forward Ibrahim Mbaye is experiencing a stark contrast between his international success and limited role at Paris Saint-Germain, raising uncertainty over his future ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 18-year-old has emerged as a key figure for Senegal’s national team, yet his involvement at club level has declined sharply in recent months.

Once expected to play a significant role during the second half of the season, his opportunities in Paris have become increasingly restricted.

Mbaye’s situation drew attention following the celebrations of Senegal’s victory at the Africa Cup of Nations 2025.

While teammates took part in festivities in Dakar, the young forward was absent after being urgently recalled by PSG, with the expectation that he would feature prominently in upcoming matches.

However, figures reported by Le Soleil Sports highlight a different reality. Since the beginning of 2026, Mbaye has made just six appearances across all competitions for PSG.

In Ligue 1, he has accumulated only 184 minutes over five matches, averaging 36 minutes per game.

This marks a notable decline compared to the first half of the campaign, when he registered 654 minutes in 14 appearances.

A similar trend is evident in European competition. During PSG’s Champions League fixture against Newcastle United on January 28, Mbaye featured for only three minutes.

Prior to the Africa Cup of Nations, he had played a total of 98 minutes in the same competition. His most recent appearance for the club came on March 21, when he played 15 minutes against OGC Nice.

In contrast, his performances for Senegal have been far more impactful. During the March international break, Mbaye featured prominently in matches against Peru and Gambia, continuing his consistent involvement with the national side.

In 2026 alone, he has already played 186 minutes for Senegal, surpassing his total league minutes with PSG over the same period.

Since making his international debut in November 2025, Mbaye has recorded three goals and five assists in ten appearances, amounting to 358 minutes of play.

This equates to a direct goal contribution every 44 minutes, underlining his efficiency in front of goal at international level.

At club level, his statistics are more modest, with one goal and two assists across all competitions.

The return of attacking players such as Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has further reduced his chances of regular playing time.

With competition for places intensifying and his role diminishing, the prospect of a summer departure is increasingly being considered as Mbaye seeks opportunities to maintain his development and playing rhythm.
