Morocco: Raja to engage Hassania Agadir in a friendly before league resumption
Raja Casablanca will step up preparations for the resumption of the domestic league with a scheduled friendly against Hassania Agadir next Saturday in Marrakech.
The decision was confirmed by head coach Fadlu Davids, who agreed to the fixture against a Hassania side led by Hilal Al-Tair.
The match will take place at the annex of the Grand Stadium in Marrakech and forms part of ongoing efforts to fine-tune the squad ahead of competitive action.
Interestingly, the fixture comes after an earlier reluctance from Raja to play the match in Marrakech, with the club initially preferring to host it at their own academy. That stance has since changed, reflecting the technical team’s intent to broaden its preparation strategy and increase the competitive edge within the squad.
The friendly is one of several arranged during the break in league action, as teams gear up for the championship’s return, expected at the end of next week following the postponed clash between AS FAR and RS Berkane.
Raja’s recent run of preparatory matches has delivered mixed outcomes. The side recorded a 3-2 win over Ittihad Touarga, with goals from Ayoub El Amloud, Badr Banoun, and Ismail Khafi, before slipping to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Olympique Dcheira, a performance that exposed some attacking inefficiencies.
They responded with a 1-0 victory over Kénitra Athletic Club, thanks to a goal from Yahya Ighiz, offering further insight into the squad’s current condition.
As the return of league football draws closer, the upcoming encounter with Hassania Agadir stands out as a crucial test, giving Davids one final opportunity to assess his squad and address key details before entering a decisive phase of the season.
