Guillaume Hoarau hails confident Ousmane Dembele

Ousmane Dembele delivered a decisive performance at Anfield as he struck twice to inspire Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-0 victory over Liverpool F.C. in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg on Tuesday night, sealing a commanding 4-0 aggregate success and booking a place in the last four.

The French forward, who was later named man of the match, proved the difference in a contest that demanded patience and precision from the visitors against sustained pressure from Liverpool, particularly after the interval.

His clinical finishing ensured PSG remained in control of the tie and underlined their growing confidence on the European stage as they continued their push for continental glory.

Reflecting on the win and the challenge posed by a resilient Liverpool side, Dembele highlighted the importance of staying composed after the break and finding a way through a difficult second half.

“We’re so happy that we were able to win this game because it was really difficult, especially the second half. But we found a way to win, and we’re through to the semi-finals, and we are delighted.”

He also broke down the two goals that secured his brace, explaining his intention for the opener and praising Bradley Barcola’s role in the second.

“On the first goal, I just wanted to place the ball. And on the second goal, Bradley (Barcola) did an incredible job.”

Attention then turned to broader ambitions, with Dembele addressing comparisons to last season’s Quadruple-winning PSG side and insisting the current group is operating at a similar standard.

He said, “I think we are at the same level.”

“We have this desire to win trophies – we will try to go all the way to the end, we will play our game until the end of the competition.”

The result sends PSG into the semi-finals full of belief as they continue their pursuit of European success this season under Luis Enrique leadership
