Matthieu Epolo has emerged as a transfer target for Strasbourg, with the young DR Congo international attracting attention following a series of performances that have raised his profile in European football.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper, Matthieu Luka Epolo, is currently under contract with Standard Liege until June 2029, placing his club in a strong position as interest builds from abroad.

According to reports from Sudinfo, RC Strasbourg are among the sides monitoring his situation. The Ligue 1 club are said to be preparing for the expected departure of their current goalkeeper Mike Penders, who is set to return to Chelsea FC at the end of the season.

Epolo’s recent rise has not gone unnoticed, with his performances contributing to increased interest from multiple clubs.

Despite this, Standard Liège are not actively seeking to sell the goalkeeper, reflecting his importance within their squad and long-term planning.

However, the Belgian side could be open to negotiations should a significant offer be made. Reports suggest that a transfer fee in the region of €10 million may be required to secure his services during the upcoming transfer window.

The goalkeeper’s market valuation currently stands at around €5 million, but his growing reputation and international status could influence any potential deal.

Epolo has recently stepped onto the international stage with the Democratic Republic of Congo, further enhancing his visibility.

During the current season, he has made 23 appearances across all competitions. In that time, he has recorded six clean sheets while conceding 31 goals, figures that reflect both his involvement and the demands placed on him throughout the campaign.

Strasbourg, currently positioned eighth in Ligue 1, are understood to be evaluating options as they plan for next season, with Epolo identified as a potential addition to strengthen their goalkeeping department.

As interest continues to build, the coming months could prove decisive in determining whether Epolo remains in Belgium or takes the next step in his career with a move to France.
