Congolese striker Jucie Lupeta begins new chapter in Vietnam
Jucie Lupeta has continued his career in Asia after completing a transfer to Vietnamese side Hai Phong, following his departure from Chinese club Nanjing City.
The Congolese striker had been a free agent since leaving the Chinese second division side and has now returned to competitive action just months after his exit.
His move adds another chapter to an Asian career that has previously taken him to South Korea and China, where he built experience across multiple leagues.
Hai Phong, who compete in Vietnam’s top flight, have made a targeted recruitment drive as they look to strengthen their squad, and Lupeta is seen as part of those plans.
Club officials have backed the signing as part of a wider strategy to bring in experienced international players capable of making an immediate impact.
Although he did not take part in the club’s pre-season preparations, Lupeta has quickly settled into his new environment since arriving. His ability to adapt has been highlighted as an important factor in helping him integrate into the squad and earn the confidence of the coaching staff.
The striker, who was developed at Portuguese club Porto, has already made his first appearance for Hai Phong. He featured in a 1-0 league victory on matchday 17, completing the full 90 minutes in his debut outing.
His involvement from the start of his first match suggests the coaching staff are prepared to rely on his experience early in his spell at the club.
Lupeta’s arrival is viewed as an opportunity for both player and club, with Hai Phong hoping his presence will add depth and attacking options as the season progresses.
For the striker, it represents another chance to re-establish himself in a competitive league after his most recent spell in China.
As the season continues, attention will turn to how quickly he can adjust to Vietnamese football and whether he can translate his experience across different Asian leagues into consistent performances for his new side.
