Gianni Infantino sees Algeria as possible World Cup surprise

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has said Algeria “could surprise” at the 2026 World Cup, following talks with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during an official visit to the country.

“I am very pleased to have been received by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He is a great man for Algeria, but also an important figure in football and a true expert in the field,” Infantino said.
