Hamit Altintop backs Mohamed Salah’s decision to leave Liverpool after illustrious nine-year spell
Former Turkey international Hamit Altintop has thrown his support behind Mohamed Salah’s decision to leave Liverpool FC at the end of the season, describing the move as the right step after nearly a decade of service to the club.
Salah has confirmed he will depart the Premier League side following the conclusion of the current campaign, bringing an end to a highly successful nine-year stay in England.
Speaking on Modern mti TV, Altintop praised the Egyptian forward’s impact both on and off the pitch, highlighting his achievements in the Premier League and his role as a positive ambassador for Muslims worldwide.
“What Mohamed Salah has achieved in the English Premier League is amazing and deserves respect, and he has also been a role model off the field as a representative of Muslims.”
He further noted that Salah has already given “a lot” to Liverpool and insisted that parting ways at this stage is appropriate, expressing continued support for the player’s career choices.
“Salah has given a lot to Liverpool and I think his departure now is the right decision and I always support him.”
Looking ahead, Altintop suggested that Salah still has opportunities to compete at the highest level in Europe, mentioning potential moves to clubs in Spain, Italy, or Paris Saint-Germain.
“I think Salah can continue in Europe, perhaps with one of the Italian or Spanish clubs or Paris Saint-Germain. Moving to the Saudi League might be a good opportunity, but he is still young and can have a new experience in Europe.”
He also acknowledged that a switch to the Saudi league could present a new opportunity, while stressing that the forward still has the quality to remain in elite European football.
