Ivorian forward Karim Konaté ends goal drought in Austrian top-flight
Ivorian striker Karim Konaté returned to the scoresheet in style as Red Bull Salzburg claimed an important league victory on Sunday in the Austrian Bundesliga.
The forward had been enjoying a strong run of form earlier in the season before experiencing a brief dip in front of goal. His last league strike came on 22 February against LASK, a match in which he netted a brace. Since then, however, Konaté had gone five matches without finding the back of the net, a spell that raised questions about his scoring rhythm.
That drought came to an end in Matchday 25, when Salzburg found themselves trailing against TSV Hartberg. Konaté stepped up when his team needed him most, scoring the equaliser in the 57th minute to bring his side back into the contest.
His goal not only restored parity but also reignited Salzburg’s momentum, ultimately contributing to a positive result for the Austrian giants. The strike marked a significant moment for the young Ivorian, who will take confidence from ending his five-match scoring drought.
So far this season, Konaté has registered four goals in nine Austrian Bundesliga appearances, underlining his growing influence in Salzburg’s attacking setup. His ability to respond in key moments continues to highlight his potential as a reliable forward.
With his confidence restored, the striker will now look to build on this performance and add more goals as Salzburg push for success in the closing stages of the season.
