Nigeria midfielder Raphael Onyedika set for Club Brugge departure ahead of summer window

Nigeria international Raphael Onyedika is reportedly on the verge of a major career step, with strong indications that he will leave Club Brugge at the end of the season.

The enterprising midfielder has been one of the standout performers for the Belgian outfit in the ongoing campaign, making 34 appearances, scoring three goals and delivering two assists across competitions.

Onyedika, whose contract expires in summer 2027 has attracted significant interest due to his swashbuckling performance for Club Brugge this season.

And according to experienced Belgian coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck, the reigning Belgian giants will find it difficult to hold on to the highly-rated midfielder.

Vanhaezebrouck, known for his successful spells with KRC Genk and KAA Gent, did not hold back in his assessment of Onyedika’s quality and growing reputation across Europe.

“He’s outstanding and great. They won’t be able to keep him after this season. He was very strong, and he has seen all of Europe, playing well in the UCL,” the 61-year-old remarked.

Onyedika has been a pivotal figure for Club Brugge since his arrival, establishing himself as one of the most consistent performers in midfield. His strength, tactical awareness, and composure on the ball have made him a standout player in both domestic competitions and on the European stage.

His performances in the UEFA Champions League, in particular, have elevated his profile, attracting attention from clubs across Europe’s top leagues. The Nigerian international has demonstrated his ability to compete at the highest level, often going toe-to-toe with elite opposition and holding his own.

Vanhaezebrouck’s comments reflect a broader expectation within Belgian football circles that Onyedika is ready for the next step in his career. With his stock continuing to rise, interest from bigger clubs appears inevitable.

For Club Brugge, the potential departure of Onyedika would represent a significant loss, given his influence in the heart of midfield. However, it would also underline the club’s reputation as a breeding ground for top talent capable of making the leap to Europe’s elite competitions.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Onyedika’s next move, with anticipation building over which club will secure the services of one of Nigeria’s most promising midfielders.
