Michael Kayode thrilled with first goal but admits Brentford 'very disappointed' after Wolves draw

Brentford fullback Michael Kayode admitted he was left with mixed feelings following Monday night’s 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The Italy U21 international opened his Premier League account in the first half, giving the Bees a 2-0 lead and sparking hopes of a comfortable victory.

However, Wolves fought back in the second half, scoring twice to snatch a point, leaving Brentford frustrated at letting a seemingly commanding position slip.

Kayode reflected on the result after the match, saying: “We are very disappointed. Obviously, we wanted to win. The second half was tough… we had to play more like we did in the first half and be more confident. But we got the point and we need to move on.”

Despite the disappointment, the defender’s personal milestone offered a silver lining. “I’m so happy to score my first goal. I’ve been trying to just get into the box and believe!” he added.

Brentford’s lead looked secure early on as their attacking intent and composure in the final third created clear opportunities. Kayode’s strike, the first of his senior career for the club, showcased his timing and ability to arrive in dangerous positions—a trait the coaching staff has encouraged throughout the season.

The Bees will now look to regroup as they aim to build on the draw in the coming fixtures.
