Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo claims February Premier League Player of the Month award
Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has been named February’s Premier League Player of the Month, marking a remarkable start to life at the Etihad following his January transfer from AFC Bournemouth.
The Ghana international impressed immediately, scoring three goals and providing an assist across five Premier League appearances last month, finding the net against Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, and Leeds United.
“This is a brilliant moment for me. To win the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget,” Semenyo said on Man City’s official website.
“My focus now is on continuing to improve and helping City to achieve the best possible results. We have so much to play for and I am really excited about this final period of the season.”
Semenyo’s versatility has been a standout feature of his debut month, as he has delivered impactful performances on both wings, in central midfield, and as a forward. His immediate contribution has not only bolstered City’s attacking options but also signaled his potential to become a key figure in Pep Guardiola’s plans.
The award also marks a significant milestone for Manchester City, as Semenyo is the first player apart from Erling Haaland to claim the prize since Raheem Sterling in December 2021. Haaland, who has won the accolade four times this season, last received it in September.
Semenyo emerged as the winner from a competitive six-man shortlist that included Viktor Gyokeres (Arsenal), fellow City teammate Nico O’Reilly, Dango Ouattara (Brentford), Benjamin Sesko (Manchester United), and Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), underscoring the immediate impact of his debut month in English football.
Semenyo now turns his attention to helping City maintain momentum as the Premier League season reaches its crucial stages, with fans eagerly watching whether the Ghanaian star can sustain his blistering form.
