South Sudan part ways with head coach Nicolas Dupuis after two years
The South Sudan Football Association has confirmed that national team head coach Nicolas Dupuis has left his role after two years in charge of the Bright Stars.
The governing body announced that the separation was reached by mutual agreement, bringing an end to a partnership described as respectful and productive.
Dupuis, a French coach, had been in charge during a period the federation says saw the national team make notable progress both on and off the pitch.
Officials credited his leadership with helping to strengthen the professional structure around the team while also improving its competitiveness.
In a statement, the federation acknowledged the contribution made by the departing coach and thanked him for the work carried out during his time with the side.
According to the association, the period under Dupuis was marked by increased discipline within the squad and several historic milestones for the young footballing nation.
The federation also highlighted the technical impact he leaves behind as the team prepares to move into its next phase.
The announcement signals the end of a chapter that the football authorities say helped lay foundations for the national team’s continued development.
With upcoming international fixtures on the horizon, the South Sudan Football Association has already moved to ensure continuity within the team’s technical setup.
Ashu Cyprian Besong has been appointed as interim coach and will take charge of the Bright Stars for their forthcoming matches against Djibouti.
The federation said the temporary appointment is intended to provide stability while a longer-term decision is considered.
A permanent replacement for Dupuis will be discussed at the next ordinary meeting of the federation’s Executive Committee, where officials are expected to deliberate on the future leadership of the national team.
For now, attention turns to the upcoming fixtures, with Besong tasked with guiding the team through the immediate transition period while the search for the next head coach begins.
