Mamadou Sarr backs Chelsea to win Champions League again
Mamadou Sarr believes Chelsea have what it takes to lift the Champions League trophy again, just five years after their last triumph.
The centre-back feels the current squad, despite its youth, has already built up valuable big-game experience.
“I think we are young, but we have a lot of experience,” the Senegal international told BBC Sport, pointing to the blend of emerging talents and established leaders in the dressing room. He highlighted players who have already gone all the way in Europe, adding: “Guys like Reece [James], they won the trophy, they won the Champions League, so I think we can achieve that again.”
For Sarr, Chelsea’s chances are not defined by age but by mindset and standards. “I don’t think it’s about age; I think it’s about mentality and level,” he insisted, underlining the belief running through the squad. To turn that confidence into reality this season, Chelsea must first get past PSG in the Round of 16 and book their place in the quarter-finals.
