Arsenal rival Liverpool for German-Nigerian defender Nnamdi Collins

Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s rising star Nnamdi Collins, as the Premier League giants look to rival Liverpool for the signature of the 22-year-old.

The Gunners are said to be closely monitoring the versatile defender as a primary target for the upcoming summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta keen to bolster his defensive options.

Collins has enjoyed a breakout season in the Bundesliga, establishing himself as a cornerstone of Eintracht Frankfurt’s backline under manager Albert Riera.

His elite recovery speed and ability to operate at both centre-back and right-back have caught the attention of scouts from across Europe, but Arsenal’s recent entry into the fray has intensified speculation about a move to London.

Frankfurt has responded to the growing interest by placing a €40 million (£34 million) price tag on the defender, signaling they will not let their prize asset go cheaply.

Liverpool had long been considered the frontrunners for Collins, who previously expressed admiration for the Merseyside club.

However, recent reports from Sky Sports suggest that the Reds’ interest may have cooled as they prioritise other areas, leaving the door wide open for Arsenal to lead the pursuit.

The North London club’s recruitment team views Collins as a long-term solution who fits the physical and technical profile required for their high-pressing system.

For his part, the young international has remained remarkably composed amidst the mounting headlines.

Speaking to Absolut Fussball this week, Collins admitted he was “surprised” by the intensity of the rumours but remains focused on finishing the season strongly in Germany.

Despite his public commitment to Frankfurt, the prospect of joining Arsenal’s project—alongside the opportunity to compete for major silverware in the Premier League—is expected to be a significant draw should a formal bid materialise in the coming months.
