Senegalese clubs Pikine and Teungueth FC barred from signing players

Two clubs competing in Senegal’s top flight have been barred from signing new players after FIFA expanded its list of African teams facing transfer sanctions.

The governing body has imposed a registration ban on AS Pikine and Teungueth FC, preventing both sides from adding new players to their squads until the measure is lifted.

The sanction came into effect on 26 February 2026 and forms part of a wider decision affecting ten clubs across the African continent.

Until the issue is resolved with FIFA, the affected teams will be unable to register any new signings.

AS Pikine appear to have already felt the consequences of the restriction. The club had been expected to complete the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Mouhamed Wélé, who previously played for ASC Jaraaf. However, the deal could not be finalised because of the transfer ban.

Instead, the player completed a move to Moroccan side Kawkab Athletic Club Marrakech at the start of February, bringing an end to Pikine’s hopes of securing his services.

Teungueth FC, based in Rufisque, have also been affected by the sanction and remain unable to register new players for the time being.

Officials at the club have indicated that they intend to address the situation with the global governing body.

Contacted by Wiwsport, club representatives said the matter remained under control and confirmed that a letter would soon be sent to FIFA in an attempt to clarify the circumstances surrounding the sanction and potentially have it lifted.

So far, FIFA has not issued a detailed public explanation for the decision affecting the clubs. The restriction may be linked to an administrative matter or a contractual dispute, although this has not been formally confirmed.

Both Senegalese sides are therefore monitoring developments closely while awaiting further information from the international federation.

They are hopeful that the issue will be resolved quickly so they can strengthen their squads again in the coming months.

The two clubs are not alone in facing sanctions. FIFA’s updated list also includes several teams from other African leagues.

Among those affected are Egyptian sides Al Ittihad and Modern Sport, Tanzania’s TRA United and Fountain Gate FC, Morocco’s Moghreb Tétouan, South Africa’s TS Galaxy and Ghanaian club Kenpong Football Ltd.

Each of these teams has been placed under the same restriction, meaning they will remain unable to register new players until their respective issues with FIFA are resolved.
