Barcelona eyes Moroccan winger Abde Ezzalzouli as backup plan in future transfer strategy
FC Barcelona is continuing to shape its sporting project for the coming seasons while the club navigates the atmosphere surrounding its presidential elections, with reports suggesting the club wants to sign Moroccan forward Abde Ezzalzouli.
Despite the political noise around the institution, the Catalan side remains focused on reinforcing its attacking options ahead of the next campaign.
One of the club’s priorities is to strengthen the forward line, particularly with uncertainty surrounding the future of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.
Although no final decision has been made regarding his departure, his influence in the current squad has gradually declined, prompting the club to prepare for potential changes in attack.
Within this plan, Barcelona has reportedly finalised most of the contractual details required to permanently sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United F.C..
The transfer fee is expected to be around 30 million euros, and the player has already agreed to the terms of a new contract that includes a significant reduction in salary in order to comply with the financial regulations of La Liga. These arrangements are part of the purchase option contained in his original loan agreement.
Contrary to some reports suggesting that negotiations are still ongoing, Spanish newspaper Marca claims that the financial and contractual aspects of the deal have already been settled. The only remaining step is a final decision, which is expected once the outcome of the club’s presidential elections becomes clear.
According to the same report, if Joan Laporta secures another term as president, the transfer is likely to be officially completed during the upcoming summer transfer window.
However, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco is said to be monitoring Rashford’s recent dip in form, which could introduce some hesitation before the deal is finalised.
At the same time, Barcelona is exploring alternative options on the left wing should the Rashford move collapse. One of the most notable candidates is Moroccan winger Abde Ezzalzouli, who has been impressing with Real Betis.
Barcelona still holds 20 per cent of the player’s future sale rights, making him an economically attractive option compared to the financial commitment required for Rashford.
The possibility of turning to Ezzalzouli could become more realistic if Barcelona decides to invest heavily in signing a world-class striker, a move that would significantly limit the club’s ability to pay 30 million euros to complete Rashford’s transfer.
