We have to strengthen our attack – Al Ahly coach Jess Thorup after loss to Tala’ea El-Gaish
Al Ahly coach Jess Thorup has acknowledged the pressing need to bolster the team’s attacking line following a 2-1 defeat to Tala’ea El-Gaish in the Egyptian Premier League.
The match, held Monday evening at the Military Academy Stadium as part of the postponed fifteenth-round fixtures, saw Al Ahly struggle to break down their opponents’ defense.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Thorup revealed that discussions are already underway about signing a new striker.
He also confirmed holding a meeting with the club’s current front three earlier this week, emphasizing that no single player stands out as the definitive choice for the striker role.
His focus, he said, is on motivating the forwards to elevate their performance and enhance the team’s attacking output.
Thorup added that the coaching staff is concentrating on improving offensive play both individually and collectively to restore balance and secure better results in upcoming league fixtures.
The defeat leaves Al Ahly on 40 points, maintaining their third-place position, while Tala’ea El Gaish climbed to 22 points, moving up to fourteenth in the standings.
