Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi becomes PSG’s all-time assist leader among defenders
Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi has etched his name in Paris Saint-Germain history, becoming the club’s top-assisting defender with 36 official assists, according to football statistics platform Stats du Foot.
Hakimi reached the milestone on March 6 during PSG’s clash with AS Monaco, surpassing former defender Maxwell, who had set the previous record with 24 assists. The Moroccan right-back’s achievement highlights his influence on the team’s attack since joining the club in 2021.
In his time at PSG, Hakimi has combined defensive solidity with remarkable offensive output, tallying 29 goals alongside his 36 assists across all competitions. Under head coach Luis Enrique, he has become a central figure in the team’s attacking structure, using his explosive pace to join attacks with ease and consistently threaten opposition defenses.
Hakimi’s impact extends beyond domestic football. He became the first Moroccan to score in a UEFA Champions League final during PSG’s historic 2025 campaign. Known for his blistering speed, he has reached 36.5 km/h in Champions League matches, ranking him among the fastest full-backs in Europe.
These records underline Hakimi’s evolution as a modern full-back, blending defensive reliability with elite attacking production and world-class speed.
However, the 27-year-old will miss PSG’s upcoming Classique against Olympique de Marseille after receiving a red card in the club’s recent match against RC Strasbourg Alsace.
Despite the suspension, Hakimi’s performances continue to solidify his legacy at PSG, establishing him as one of the club’s most impactful defenders and one of the most dynamic right-backs in world football today
