Marseille accepts Ethan Nwaneri's return to Arsenal next season

Marseille has reportedly accepted that Arsenal starlet Ethan Nwaneri will not remain at the club beyond this season, with the teenager expected to return to North London in the summer.

The on-loan midfielder has been under intense scrutiny in France after Marseille’s painful Coupe de France exit to Toulouse.

The Ligue 1 side was knocked out on penalties after a 2-2 draw, with Nwaneri missing the decisive spot-kick and leaving the pitch visibly emotional. With their last shot at silverware gone, Marseille have shifted focus to securing Champions League qualification for the 2026–27 campaign, accepting that the youngster’s future lies back at Arsenal.

Despite the setback in France, those at Arsenal remain fully convinced of Nwaneri’s ceiling. The Gunners still see him as a potential world-class talent and believe his loan spell, even with its difficult moments, will aid his development.

Ethan Nwaneri has played five games, scored one goal, and assisted one in Ligue 1 this season.
