In a dress rehearsal for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, Egypt defeated Guinea 4-2 on the 6th and final day of the group stage. Although they conceded an own goal early in the match, Egypt managed to equalize before halftime. In the second half, a penalty awarded to Egypt saw Guinea’s Kamil Zayatte sent off, and Egypt took the lead. Guinea, despite being numerically inferior, managed to level the score again. However, Egypt secured the victory with two late goals from Mohamed Salah and Amr Zaki. Egypt finished the group stage undefeated with 6 victories out of 6 matches, accumulating 18 points. Mohamed Abou Treika earned his 100th cap in the match. Egypt is now set to participate in the play-offs, appearing in hat 2 for the draw scheduled for September 16.
