Geovany Quenda nears Sporting return after Chelsea rehabilitation

Geovany Quenda is close to stepping back onto the pitch for Sporting Lisbon in what is expected to be his final season in Portugal before completing a permanent move to Chelsea.

The 18-year-old forward has spent the past couple of months at Cobham, working through rehabilitation after suffering a metatarsal injury in December.

During his time in England, Quenda has not only focused on his physical recovery but also on settling into life in London, sorting out his housing arrangements, and improving his English in preparation for the next stage of his career. He is due to fly back to Portugal by the end of the week, where he will rejoin Sporting and build up his match fitness.

Chelsea have already agreed a £40m deal for the versatile attacker, and he is expected to be part of the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge next season.

For now, Quenda’s immediate goal is a strong finish with Sporting, using the remainder of the campaign to regain rhythm and confidence before making the full-time switch to the Premier League.
