Mohamed Salah ends league goal drought as Liverpool fall to Wolves

Mohamed Salah finally ended his four-month Premier League goal drought for Liverpool, but his strike was not enough to prevent a late 2-1 defeat away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday night in matchweek 29.

The Egyptian star had gone 10 league games without scoring for the Reds before finding the net at Molineux.

Salah’s moment came in the 83rd minute, when he pounced on a misplaced pass in midfield, drove down the right and fired a low shot inside José Sá’s near post to make it 1-1. Wolves, however, snatched all three points deep into stoppage time, with André scoring the winner in the 90+4th minute.

This goal was Salah’s first in the league since he scored against Aston Villa on 1 November, ending a barren spell that included his absence with Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

He now has 5 Premier League goals this season, a modest tally compared to last year when he finished as top scorer with 29.

The defeat leaves Liverpool stuck on 48 points in fifth place, while Wolves move to 16 points but remain bottom of the table.
