Gambian forward Suwaibou Kebbeh nears Sundsvall loan deal

Hammarby IF are set to loan out Gambian forward Suwaibou Kebbeh to GIF Sundsvall in a move designed to accelerate his development through regular first-team football.

The 21-year-old, who is contracted to Hammarby IF, is expected to complete a temporary switch after the clubs reached an agreement in principle.

The deal is understood to be close to finalisation, with only formalities remaining before it is confirmed.

Kebbeh joined Hammarby from Real de Banjul and made an encouraging impression at the beginning of the season.

His early performances drew attention from several quarters, including reported interest from Mjällby AIF.

However, Hammarby opted against a permanent transfer, choosing instead to retain the player as part of their longer-term plans.

The decision to sanction a loan reflects the club’s intention to provide Kebbeh with more consistent playing time.

Competition for places at Hammarby has limited his opportunities, and a temporary spell at Sundsvall is seen as a chance for the Gambian to gain valuable experience in a competitive environment.

For Sundsvall, the addition of Kebbeh would bolster their attacking options as they look to strengthen their squad. The club believe his pace and attacking instincts could add a new dimension to their forward line.

Hammarby, meanwhile, view the move as a strategic step in the player’s progression. By allowing him to feature more regularly at senior level, they hope he will return better equipped to compete for a place in their starting line-up.

With all parties reportedly aligned, the transfer could be concluded in the coming days, paving the way for Kebbeh to begin the next chapter of his development in Sundsvall colours.
