Farid Zato celebrated his first selection with the Togo national football team, known as the Sparrowhawks, during the 6th and final day of the World Cup qualifiers for Brazil 2014. The player, transferred from HK Kopavogur to Vikingur Olasvik in December, caught the attention of Togo coach Didier Six.
Didier Six emphasized the need to bring in additional young players to rejuvenate the team. He expressed hope that preparation matches would contribute to the development of the team for future qualifiers, stating, “An outbreak does not just happen in a single match. There are preparation matches for that, and I hope that these matches will happen for the Eperviers for the qualifiers for 2015. But these young people have value to provide competition.”
Togo secured a 2-1 victory against Morocco on Sunday, with goals from Atakora Lalawelé and Aloenouvo Baker.
