Mohamed Salah goal drought continues as Liverpool hit West Ham for five

Liverpool produced a ruthless attacking display to crush West Ham United 5–2 at Anfield in Premier League matchweek 28, but Mohamed Salah’s wait for a league goal continued.

The Reds raced ahead after just five minutes through Hugo Ekitike, before Virgil van Dijk powered in a second from a set-piece on 24 minutes.

Alexis Mac Allister curled in a third shortly before half-time to cap a dominant opening 45 minutes for Liverpool. West Ham briefly threatened a comeback when Tomas Soucek pulled one back early in the second half, only for Cody Gakpo to restore the three-goal cushion with Liverpool’s fourth on 70 minutes.

Valentín Castellanos struck again for the visitors five minutes later, but any hopes of a late fightback were ended when Axel Disasi diverted the ball into his own net on 83 minutes to make it 5–2. The result lifts Liverpool to 48 points in fifth place, while West Ham remain stuck on 25 points in 18th.

Salah, who started the match, failed to score for the 10th consecutive Premier League game, extending the longest top-flight drought of his Liverpool career since joining from Roma in 2017.
