Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen disappointed in Galatasaray’s performance despite edging out Juventus.
Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has expressed his disappointment following Galatasaray’s defeat to Juventus in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off tie.
The former Napoli star started and played full throttle of the match, as his outfit succumbed to a 3-2 defeat after extra-time.
Despite the loss, the Turkish has advanced to the Round 16 of the UEFA’s elite club competition, securing a 7-5 aggregate victory, keeping their European hopes alive.
Speaking to CBS Sports after the game, Osimhen did not shy away from critiquing his team’s performance. “Disappointed with the performance of the team”.
“[We’ve have] to improve a lot because Juventus deserved to win, even if I’m happy for my team,” he said. “I knew it was difficult to come and play here. I tried to motivate my teammates. I think some of them were scared of the crowd and the way Juventus played.”
Meanwhile, Osimhen has etched his name into the history books of Galatasaray, becoming the Turkish club’s all-time leading foreign goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League.
