Alphonso Davies suffers fresh injury blow after long ACL recovery

Alphonso Davies has been dealt another cruel setback, picking up a new injury just weeks after finally returning from a serious ACL problem.

The Bayern Munich left-back was forced off during the Bundesliga clash against Eintracht Frankfurt, immediately sparking concern on the Bayern bench.

Davies had only recently come back after missing most of last season and a large part of this campaign with a major knee injury. Early indications suggest this latest issue is a new problem rather than a recurrence of the ACL tear, but it is still being described as a worrying setback for the 25-year-old.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern’s medical staff will now run further tests to determine the severity of the injury and how long Davies might be sidelined. For a player who relies so much on his explosive speed and stamina, every interruption makes it harder to regain rhythm and confidence.

Bayern will be hoping the damage is minor and that one of their most dynamic and influential players does not face yet another long spell away from the pitch.
