Ryad Boudebouz addressed questions about his departure from Sochaux and his decision to join Bastia during a press conference before the World Cup qualifiers for Brazil 2014. Several journalists inquired about the details of his contract and the reasons behind his choice.
“At the end, I had difficulty. I found myself less and it was time to leave. I absolutely had to discover another club, another city, another world. In life, you have to make choices, I accept them and I’m happy to be here. I knew everything at Sochaux, and I wanted to leave, especially since Sochaux wanted to sell me one year from the end of my contract,” Boudebouz explained regarding his departure from Sochaux.
Expressing his desire for a change and to explore new opportunities, Boudebouz continued, “I really wanted a change of scenery and to discover something new. When my agent told me that Bastia was interested, I immediately looked at the recruitment and told myself that we could have a good season. There are good players, Squillaci, Modesto, and I saw that the club has a good project. So, I didn’t hesitate too much.”
