Spain international of Morocco descent Lamine Yamal continues to underline why he is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in European football.
The Barcelona winger delivered another eye-catching display of individual quality, reaching a remarkable personal milestone despite a frustrating outcome for his team.
Yamal, who also has Equatorial Guinea roots lasted the entire duration as his outfit succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Girona in matchday 24 of the Spanish top-flight on Monday.
His sharp footwork, close control, and fearless approach on the ball proved decisive in the statistics, even if the scoreboard did not reflect Barcelona’s efforts.
The enterprising winger has now become the first player this season across Europe’s top five leagues to register 100 successful dribbles. The achievement highlights not only his flair but also his consistency, as the teenager reached the landmark after attempting 199 dribbles over the course of the campaign.
The gap between Yamal and the rest of the field further underlines his dominance in this area. His nearest challenger, Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig, has recorded 74 successful dribbles from 138 attempts — a significant distance behind the Barcelona prodigy.
While Barcelona may have been left disappointed by the final result, Yamal walked off the pitch with a notable personal success, once again proving that his influence extends beyond goals and assists. His ability to destabilise defenders, create space, and drive his team forward has become a defining feature of Barcelona’s attacking play this season.
Across all competitions, Yamal has featured in 31 matches for FC Barcelona, registering an impressive return of 15 goals and 13 assists. For a player still in his teens, the numbers — and the manner in which he is producing them — underline a rapid rise and hint at an even brighter future ahead.
