Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has expressed his displeasure about his outfit low conversation rate despite securing victory over Marumo Gallants in the South African Premier League clash.
The Soweto giants triumphed over Marumo Gallants 3-0 in a highly competitive clash on Saturday, extending their lead in the Premiership standings after 16 matches.
Goals from Yanela Mbuthuma, Patrick Maswanganyi and Relebohile Mofokeng were enough for Pirates to secure maximum points over their opponent. The win saw Pirates extend their lead at the top of the standings to six points.
But the lanky coach is not all pleased with Pirates lack of firepower upfront and spoke in anger about how this should change.
“I think the positive thing is we scored early, if Marumo scored early, I think things could have been different, but you’re right, when you’re playing for such a big club with a lot of ambition,” he said.
“It becomes crucial that you need to finish in the last third, I have been saying that – but it’s becoming a sickness – and if you want to be more ambitious, let’s convert the chances and let’s say I can go further and deeper and say; let’s be serious, let’s be more serious in the last third.
Currently, Orlando Pirates occupies top spot with 38 points, while Mamelodi Sundowns sit second place with 32 points, but are one game behind due to their CAF Champions League participation.
